A study led by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found a slight increase in babies born from women taking certain antidepressants.
The study found a slight increase in birth defects from women taking Paxil and Prozac in the months before getting pregnant and in the first trimester.
However, the study did not find any increase for other antidepressants in the same class, such as Zoloft, Celexa, and Lexapro.
The CDC pointed out that the study does not prove Paxil and Prozac actually cause birth defects. The CDC also said women should not stop taking drugs they are on without talking to their doctors.
