BOONE, NC (WTVD) -- Health officials are giving the all clear after an Ebola scare at a North Carolina hospital.

The Appalachian Regional Healthcare System in Boone said Thursday that special Ebola protocols had been put in place after a patient who had recently travelled to Africa came in with a fever.

The Watauga County hospital was monitoring the person.

It was later determined that the symptoms were not consistent with Ebola and there was not a threat to the community.
