VA holds town hall meetings in Fayetteville
Local veterans got a chance to speak up about their concerns in Fayetteville.

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Local veterans got a chance to speak up about their concerns in Fayetteville.

The Fayetteville VA Medical Center hosted two town hall meetings Friday following the nationwide scandal that left veterans here and across the country waiting for months for care.

A smaller but just as vocal crowd was on hand for one of the town hall meetings today and many vets said they haven't seen a lot of improvements.

However, VA officials said they had reduced patient wait times and increased space and the number of doctors and health teams.

Earlier this year, the Fayetteville VA hospital in Fayetteville had the worst wait times in the country. Friday, local VA officials said a new clinic on Raeford Road is scheduled to open next year.

Officials said they had increased both the quality and quantity of health care for vets. Some vets said they had not seen any big changes. Others said the VA was trying to improve medical care.

Several veterans said they were seeing some changes, but said the VA in Fayetteville still has a long way to go.
