Woman says tree-removal service took payment without doing job
Troubleshooter Diane Wilson responded to a complaint that a tree removal company took a woman's payment and didn't come back to do the job.

WENDELL, N.C. (WTVD) -- It costs big money to get big trees cut down. One local woman paid more than $2,000 to have her yard cleared, but it quickly turned into a nightmare.

Stella Dunn wanted the big trees in her yard removed. In February, she spotted a crew doing a job across the street, and she asked what they would charge to do her yard.

"We sat down at this table right her and negotiated," Dunn explained.

Dunn paid Ken B. Tree Service $2,000 to get started. She said he was supposed to cut the trees down that day.

"It started raining and sleeting and snowing that day," she said. "Next thing I know, everybody was gone and I hadn't heard from him since."

Dunn said she kept calling the owner.

"I called him in March and I called him in April... I called him in May," she said.

But she never heard back, so she reached out to ABC11.

We got in touch with the owner of Ken B. Tree Service. He said her job was on the schedule, but he wanted the yard to dry out from all of the rain.

Finally, more than three months after she hired Ken B. Tree Service, a crew was at Dunn's home and cut down her large trees.

"If it had not been for you, Diane, I don't think they would have come back," she said.
