Durham police investigate a shooting near NCCU campus.

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham police are investigating a shooting that injured a woman Wednesday night.

It happened just before 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Roxboro Street at East Lawson Street, near North Carolina Central University's campus.

Authorities said four people were inside a car turning left when several shots were fired at it.

A 20-year-old woman, who was sitting in the back seat of the car, was hit. The three other people were not injured.

The car then drove to NCCU's student union on campus for help.

The woman was taken by ambulance to the hospital with serious injuries.

The victims told officers they believed the shots were fired from a vehicle behind them, and described the vehicle as having "very bright head lights," according to police.
