DURHAM (WTVD) -- The Duke Lemur center announced that a baby lemur was born during the winter storm on Saturday.

In a post on their Facebook page, the center said a baby boy lemur was born, another grandchild of the famous Zoboomafoo.

The center was closed, but they said a vet tech walked two miles in the snow after her car got stuck to check on Gisela, the mother. When she got there, she found the newborn, who hasn't been named yet, had arrived.

Husbandry staff stayed overnight through the weekend to care for the lemurs.

This is Gisela's first baby and the center said she and the newborn are doing well.
