Garner PD: Pedestrian killed on the ramp from I-40 E. to US 70 E. toward Clayton.

GARNER, N.C. (WTVD) -- Garner police said a pedestrian was killed on the ramp from I-40 E. to US 70 E. toward Clayton on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said Jason Aaron Jones, 36, of Clayton was driving a 2015 Porsche SUV on the exit ramp from I-40 East to Highway 70 East when he ran off the road to the right and struck James Allen Lucas, 47, no known address, as well as a guardrail/bridge structure.

Lucas was fatally injured in the collision.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, police said, and no charges have been filed.

The investigation is ongoing, Garner police said.
