FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- The North Carolina Highway Patrol says a man was under the influence and speeding when he lost control and crashed in Fayetteville Wednesday night.

It happened on Charles Avenue near Eloise Street.

Troopers say 24-year-old Joshua Watkins went off the road and rolled his SUV at least five times. He was thrown out and trapped underneath the vehicle.

A Good Samaritan used a car jack to raise the SUV and get Watkins out.

Watkins was listed in stable condition at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He's charged with driving without a license, DWI, driving left of center, and not wearing a seatbelt.
