Raleigh police are searching for three suspects who badly injured the former general manager of the now closed Tir na Nog restaurant earlier this week.

Annie Nice lives in an apartment just a few blocks from the restaurant where she worked for years. That's where she was robbed and beaten.

Nice is well known, not only from her job at the former Tir na Nog, but also as a major leader in Raleigh's Irish community.

"I don't even have a job. It's like they took from somebody right now who has nothing. They probably have more than me," Nice said.

She told police she was getting out of her car in the parking lot behind her apartment building Tuesday night when she was jumped by three young men.

According to a police report, the thieves got away with Nice's briefcase, her wallet, her smartphone, and her green card.

A GoFundMe page set up for Nice says she was hit in the back of the head, thrown to the ground, and dragged by the three young suspects. She is now said to be in pain, wearing a surgical neck brace, and facing possible surgery for ligament damage.

The fundraiser is to help cover medical bills and other expenses. Her supporters point out that for years, she has helped raise money for charities and funds for other deserving people.

Nice gets emotional every time she talks about her attack. But, she gets even more emotional when she talks about how Raleigh is giving back to her.

"Everybody in this community has reached out to help me, and send me flowers, and donating to the fundraiser," Nice said.
