Man running from troopers hit by car in Southern Pines

SOUTHERN PINES, NC (WTVD) -- The North Carolina Highway Patrol says a man who ran away from a license check in Southern Pines was hit by a car early Saturday.

It happened just after midnight on East Indiana Avenue.

Troopers say as they conducted the license check, the man jumped out of his car and took off on foot - right into the path of another car.

Pictures show heavy damage to the windshield.

Despite the impact, the man got up and ran off into some woods where troopers were able to catch him.

He was flown to Chapel Hill for treatment of his injuries, but is expected to recover.
