A Garner woman ran into problems with her new home.

GARNER, NC (WTVD) -- When you build a new home, it typically comes with a one-year warranty. But this was not the case for one new homeowner.

Kimberly Sanders noticed the issue after walking through her garage.

"I would come through the garage and walk into the house and notice powder on my shoes," Kimberly said.

Her builder, HH Hunt Homes, sent a crew out to fix it.

"Swept all this dust out and put a coat of paint on it, "she said.

But she says the paint was just a bandage.

"I drove the car in and the paint was literally lifted off the floor, and he was like we will have someone come out," Kimberly said.

The builder delivered a POD so Kimberly could store all of her things in it.

"No one has been out since they put the paint on the floor," Kimberly said. "I bought the house and I would love to drive my vehicles in here and I have not been able to do it."

I reached out to HH Hunt Homes and Kimberly had a crew at her home right after. Her garage floor is no longer peeling and she can drive her cars in and out without a problem.

A rep with HH Hunt Homes apologized that it took their subcontractor longer than necessary to complete the work.

If you have a problem with a new home you built, the best advice is to document everything, take pictures of the problems and keep a log of any responses.
