GARNER (WTVD) -- A deadly three-vehicle wreck closed White Oak Road in Garner for hours Monday night.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. on White Oak Road near Interstate 40.

Authorities said a vehicle driven by Henry Munday of Garner was going north on White Oak Road when he side swiped a vehicle driven by 54-year-old Philip Lawler of Garner, as it was going south on White Oak Road.

After side swiping Lawler's vehicle, troopers said Munday then struck a third vehicle head-on. As a result of the collision, the driver of the third vehicle died at the scene. He has been identified as 31-year-old Christopher Wright of Garner.

Munday was taken to WakeMed with non-life threatening injuries. Lawler was not injured.

At this time investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor in the accident. Charges are pending.
