DURHAM (WTVD) --A Durham man says he was just sitting in his car, in his driveway, getting ready to leave when all of a sudden he heard gunshots. Within seconds his house had been shot, his car and his leg.
The man asked us not to identify him. But he says this happened Thursday night. Durham police say they did respond to a shooting that day in the 2400 block of Highland Avenue.
The man says his wounds, thankfully are not severe, but if the bullet had hit him only a few inches over, he might still be in the hospital.
And while he is healing physically, mental healing will take a while. He says he lives with constant anxiety. He says his anxiety levels go up while just sitting at home and even while sharing his story with Eyewitness News.
"It was truly random, I'm very grateful that my neighbor's kids weren't playing in the yard or anybody else wasn't hurt because of this, it was truly random," he said.
As far as the suspects, police say three men were seen running from the neighborhood that day, but no charges have been filed.
