Raleigh community center holds free dental clinic

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- As part of Give Kids A Smile Day, Advance Community Health is holding a free and sliding scale dental clinic for kids Friday, Feb. 5 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Raleigh.

"If you don't have dental insurance, you can come to us. Based on your income, you may not have to pay anything," explained Wilma Metcalf, Advance Community Health Marketing and Communications Director.

Advance Community Health is a private, non profit center that serves thousands of medically underserved patients in Wake and Franklin counties. In addition to dental care, Advance Community Health also provides comprehensive primary healthcare, pediatrics, adolescent medicine, nutrition education, and behavioral health year round. The latest 13 million dollar facility opened in the Fall of 2015 on Rock Quarry Road in Raleigh.

"In this one facility, we can serve the entire family," Metcalf said.

"So, we have adult medicine and senior medicine on the first floor and on the second floor we have pediatrics and dental."

The free and sliding scale dental clinic will run Friday, Feb. 5 at Advance Community Health 1001 Rock Quarry Road in Raleigh from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"We are offering dental exams and dental cleanings to any child up to the age of 19," Metcalf said. "And, we don't turn anyone away based on their ability to pay."
