Ten people are displaced after a Raleigh apartment fire.

Raleigh firefighters are trying to figure out what sparked the flames that left 10 people without a home Thursday night.

"Saw flames, smoke, it was crazy. I was really scared," Christean Hunter said.

About 5 p.m., she was talking on the phone in an apartment in the Northridge Crossings apartment complex when she heard banging.

"Some man came and banged on the back door, on the back window with a fire extinguisher," Hunter said.

Realizing the building might be on fire, she grabbed her coat and opened the door. That's when she saw flames coming out of the apartment right next to the one she was in.

"The wind was blowing it away from his house but it just looked out of control, just looked out of control, like the whole complex was about to come down," Hunter said.

Firefighters knocked down the fire within half an hour but not before flames left four apartments uninhabitable. Altogether, 10 people were displaced.

As for Hunter, she was able to get back inside and is thankful that at least no one was hurt.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
