Handicap modified car found
Raleigh police located and returned a man's handicap modified car which had been stolen

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Raleigh police have located a local man's handicap modified car after it was stolen earlier this week.

Mike Leary's handicap modified car is his lifeline to the world. And sometime Tuesday night, someone stole the car right out of his carport.

His blue Suzuki has hand controls for the gas and brakes, because Leary has a rare nerve condition called CIDP, or chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy. CIDP caused paralysis in his lower body.

Leary told ABC11 the police found his car overnight Saturday about two miles from his house. It was parked in the back of an apartment complex, Leary said. It still runs, and the handicap controls are still there.
