Valentine's Day balloons knock out power to thousands in Los Angeles

Crews with Southern California Edison stated Valentine's Day balloons caused a power outage in South Los Angeles, leaving more than 5,000 customers without electricity.

Southern California Edison said a massive power outage in Los Angeles Monday evening was caused by Valentine's Day balloons.

SoCal Edison officials said a bundle of Mylar Valentine's Day balloons hit power lines in the south part of the city.

More than 5,000 customers were left without power through Tuesday morning.
