FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Police said one person was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Fayetteville early Sunday morning.

Authorities said it happened just before 2 a.m. on Strickland Bridge Road near Century Circle.

According to police, the driver of a Toyota Scion was traveling toward Century Circle when the vehicle ran off the road.

The Toyota struck a tree and a passenger in the car was killed. The driver and another passenger were not seriously injured.

The crash is being investigated, and more information will be released as it becomes available.

Authorities won't identify the driver and passengers until police contact their families.
