Durham police officer hit from behind in crash

DURHAM (WTVD) -- A Durham Police Department captain was taken to the hospital to be checked out Wednesday morning after his car was hit from behind.

It happened just after 7:30 a.m. on Alston Avenue near Gilbert Street.

Investigators said Captain George Zeipekkis slowed for traffic in front of him but a driver behind him did not - colliding with the officer's unmarked car.
