Woman struck, killed in Raleigh near I-540

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle Monday night on Capital Boulevard in Raleigh between I-540 and Old Wake Forest Road.

It happened about 8 p.m., Raleigh police said.

The woman was taken to WakeMed, where she was declared dead.

No charges have been filed and none are anticipated, according to police.

Multiple lanes of Capital Boulevard were shut down for several hours while police investigated and cleared the scene.
