Carjacking in Durham
Tony Rochelle, left, and Antoine Blake were arrested after a Durham mom with a small child is carjacked.

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham Police say two teens carjacked a woman-then took off with her car. The woman was able to remove her 3-year-old from the car before the suspects got away.

After the suspects took her cell phone and car, the woman ran to a nearby store to call 911.

The woman told a bilingual 911 operator she had just parked her car at Center Station Apartments on Chalk Level Road when she was approached by the suspects.

She tells the operator they pointed a gun in her face and demanded her car. The woman says she removed her child from the vehicle before one of the suspects drove off with the car and the other person ran away.

The carjacking happened Sunday night in the parking lot at Center Station Apartments. A neighbor -- who doesn't want to be identified -- told ABC 11 he saw the incident from his apartment window.

The neighbor admits he was slow to react because he was unsure of what was happening.

"Nothing I could do about it. I just started looking back at TV," he said.

Luckily, two hours after the woman called 911 at a nearby gas station investigators say, a Durham police officer and K-9 spotted the stolen vehicle across town and arrested Tony Rochelle after a brief foot chase.

Rochelle, 18, is charged with robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle and larceny. Police also arrested Antoine Blake, 17. Investigators say Blake was in the passenger seat. Blake is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.

Rochelle is in jail without bond. Blake was released Wednesday on a $2,500 bond.

The car is back in the woman's possession.
