DURHAM (WTVD) -- Authorities in Durham are investigating a shooting along Highway 70 that ended with a crash and injuries early Friday morning.

It started with an altercation at 3:30 a.m. at the Wilco Hess gas station in the 1400 block of South Miami Boulevard.

Authorities said the people involved in the dispute got into two vehicles and left the gas station.

Then, a suspect in one of the vehicles began shooting at the other vehicle as they drove west on Highway 70.

The shooting suspect's vehicle ended up crashing and overturning at the intersection of Holloway Street and North Driver Street.

Officials with the Durham County Sheriff's Office said an unknown number of people fled from the car after the crash, but one man trying to run from the scene collapsed from injuries he sustained in the accident.

The unidentified man was taken to the hospital, but his condition is unknown at this time.

Meanwhile, the people in the other vehicle drove to Duke Medical Center because a woman in that car was shot. Her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, according to authorities.
