Authorities capture escaped North Carolina inmate

ANSON COUNTY (WTVD) -- Department of Public Safety fugitive officers and canines have captured an inmate who escaped from the minimum-security unit at Brown Creek Correctional Institution in Polkton, North Carolina.

Devin Brown, 22, was serving a five-year sentence for habitual impaired driving and was scheduled for release in March 2019.

Brown was captured shortly after 12 p.m. Wednesday, in a wooded area in Landis, N.C., which is in Rowan County. He was missing for 12 hours, authorities said.

Brown Creek Correctional Institution in Anson County is about 90 miles west of Fayetteville and about 50 miles southeast of Charlotte.
