Protesters say two men were unfairly treated

HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Protesters in Harnett County are calling for justice for two men.

They gathered outside the sheriff's office Sunday morning to draw attention to the men they say were unfairly treated.

John Livingston was shot and killed by a deputy in November and Christian Griggs died in an altercation with his father-in-law in October 2013. No charges were filed in Griggs' case.

Livingston was shot on his West Everett Drive front porch. It followed a fight with two Harnett County deputies who were reportedly looking for another man who had previously resided in the home.

On April 11, a grand jury decided to not indict the deputy who shot him.

The demonstrators say corruption within the sheriff's office is the reason for what they call a 'denial of justice.'

ABC11 reached out to the Harnett County Sheriff's Office but so far they have not responded.
