Authorities in Wake County are investigating a shooting that left a deputy injured while serving a warrant.

It happened at a mobile home on Old Watkins Road in the northeastern part of the county.

Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison told ABC11 that deputies were on the property to serve a search warrant related to an earlier shooting that was reported there Monday.

Harrison said two people were in the home when deputies arrived and someone inside started shooting.

"One of my deputies did get some superficial wounds in his arm," Harrison said.

The sheriff added that the deputy was hit by shrapnel and "We don't know where that came from yet."

The deputy was taken to WakeMed.

Harrison said 21-year-old Collin Stewart Price is charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

"He just started shooting when we pulled up," Harrison said. "He said he thought it was somebody coming back to retaliate or something."

Details surrounding the earlier shooting have not been released. One person who suffered a foot injury turned up at WakeMed, and that's when the investigation began.
