RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Raleigh police are investigating after a woman was assaulted with a skateboard on Jarvis Street early Sunday morning.
Police were called to the 1500 block of Jarvis Street around 7:50 a.m. because someone reportedly called 911 and hung up the phone.
Upon arrival, the responding officers found a female victim who was seriously injured from an assault. The officers also detained a man who was at the scene.
The victim, who will remain anonymous, was initially taken to WakeMed. She was later moved to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Kevin Chou, 23, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Chou was taken to WakeMed with non-life threatening injuries. Police think he was hurt during the assault. He was arrested after he was released from the hospital.
Police said Chou and the victim knew each other, and the assault was not a random act.
Raleigh police are still investigating.
