Fayetteville police make arrest in two gun incidents

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Officers with the Fayetteville Police Department have arrested a suspect in connection with two shots fired calls that occurred late Friday night.

On Friday, a little after 11:30 p.m., officers responded to the Cape Fear Deli at 3360 Village Drive, in reference to someone firing a handgun into the air while in the parking lot.

Officers were told a man pulled into the parking lot of the deli, got out of his vehicle, pointed a black revolver-style handgun into the air and pulled the trigger three times. The gun did not fire. He then pulled the trigger a fourth time and the weapon fired.

The man then got into an altercation with bystanders and eventually fled in his vehicle, described as a black Cadillac Escalade.

A few minutes later, officers were called to check on shots fired at a Kangaroo gas station in the 1700 block of Ireland Drive.

Witnesses told officers a man who appeared to be intoxicated went into the store and began arguing with a customer. The man left the store and fired a revolver-style handgun into the business, which contained employees and customers. No one was struck by the gunfire, and the suspect fled in what was described as a black Cadillac Escalade.

On Saturday morning, at 7:55 a.m., Officer C. Robinson saw a vehicle matching the description of the two incidents in the parking lot of 201 S. Eastern Blvd. Robinson approached the Escalade and noted that the man matched the description of the suspects.

Officer Robinson apprehended the suspect without incident.

The suspect was identified as Robert Anthony Jackson, 32, of the 300 block of Harrison Street. Jackson was charged with five counts of assault with a deadly weapon With intent to kill, discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Jackson was processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center where bond was set at $160,000 secured.
