RALEIGH (WTVD) -- An apartment dweller appears to have accidentally backed their van through the wall of their own home.

On Tuesday she was charged with misdemeanor child abuse for leaving four kids unattended when she left her apartment. They children, a 4-year-old girl, a 3-year-old boy, a 5-year-old girl, and a 8-month-old male, were in the building hit by the van.

It happened late Monday night in Raleigh, and police said it looks as if a woman backed down an incline and ended up smashing through the brick wall on the side of the apartment building in the 1100 block of Clanton Street.

One child sustained a foot injury. All four children were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

It appears the woman was trying to park her van or possibly going to the store and accidentally backed down the grassy hill into her unit.

Police were still investigating to see whether the apartment must be evacuated because of structural damage. The building inspector was called out to evaluate the building.
