Nonprofit provides free braces for patients in need

APEX, N.C. (WTVD) -- Smile For A Lifetime is a nonprofit providing orthodontic scholarships for patients between the ages of 11 and 18.

Applications are reviewed twice a year for recipients, and doctors across the nation provide treatment. In Apex, Dr. Alena Spielberg has been providing care in the program for 6 years.

"Everywhere you go, a smile boosts happiness, it provides self confidence," Dr. Spielberg said. "It impacts the way we feel about ourselves, interact with others, and, in some cases, it takes a shy individual and makes them more outgoing. We're very fortunate to be a part of it."
