Durham police chased robbers through downtown

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Police are searching for three men who robbed a jewelry repair store and led police on a chase through downtown Durham.

Authorities said the robbery was reported at 11:45 a.m. at a jewelry repair store in the 1800 block of North Pointe Drive. Three men armed with guns robbed the business and customers of their wallets, phones, jewelry and cash.

Police told ABC11 the suspects fled in a white Ford Focus, which officers tried to stop on North Pointe Drive. The driver evaded law enforcement and led officers on Guess Road, Carver Street, and Hillandale Road before they sped onto I-85.

Officers chased the car onto North Roxboro Street and Mangum Street from I-85. The chase continued onto Gregson street, and officers lost sight of the suspects near Wilkerson and Chapel Hill Street.

The suspects reportedly threw several items out of the car during the chase. No one was injured in the pursuit.
