Fire rips through apartment building in Durham
Crews respond to fire at JFK Towers in Durham overnight

DURHAM -- Four people were hospitalized overnight after a fire broke out at a Durham apartment complex.

The fire started on the 5th floor at JFK Towers on North Roxboro Road late Sunday night.

Residents said they saw flames coming out of a side window after spotting smoke.

The four people who were taken to the hospital suffered smoke inhalation, according to officials. One of the victims also had fire degree burns on his hands and wrists.

As firefighters battled the blaze, one firefighter had to be treated for dehydration.

It is the same apartment building where an elderly man died in a fire last October. Officials said they believed that blaze was accidental.
