A motorcyclist is in the hospital after troopers said he led them on high-speed chase through Wake County Saturday evening.

The State Highway Patrol said a trooper tried to pull Alton Jones over for going 125 mph on I-540 near Creedmoor Road. He kept going until he got a flat tire in the 7400 block of Fox Road.

Troopers said Jones slowed down and tried to use the handbrake but flipped over the handlebars. The bike hit the trooper's cruiser and left a scratch. The trooper was not injured.

Jones has minor injuries. He faces charges of felony speeding to elude, careless and reckless driving, and going 125 in a 70.
