SOUTHAVEN, MS -- A young man sang at a street corner with a sign taped to his back telling people to roll their windows down and listen to a message, but this wasn't just for fun. Rodney Hall, 19, was singing to avoid jail time.

Hall was on probation for a DUI and failed a drug test. However, the judge cut him a deal: He said Hall could write a song about his mistake and sing it at an intersection -- or go to jail for two days.

Hall took the offer.

"I just thank God he actually had another option for me, because Lord knows jail is not for me," says Hall. "Obviously, I made a big mistake but lesson learned...lesson definitely learned."

Hall says he's been singing since the sixth grade and that everyone in his family also sings.

By the way, he's taking his talent even further, studying music education in college.
