Durham double murder
An investigation continues into the deaths of Dewayne Greer Sr., and his son DJ.

DURHAM (WTVD) -- The Durham County Sheriff's Office is still combing through leads in the double murder of 51-year-old Dewayne Greer Sr., and his 18-year-old son DJ. The pair were found murdered in their small home in the 3700 block of Angier Avenue on Thursday evening.

The Sheriff's office has reviewed surveillance footage from the nearby Bilboa Food Mart for additional clues.

Sources told ABC11 that Dewayne Sr. worked in construction for Piedmont Insulation and recently relocated to Angier Avenue about five months ago. A co-worker, who did not want to be identified, said Dewayne was a "good guy," but his son, DJ, was "in and out of trouble."

Dewayne did not show up to work on Thursday, which had co-workers alarmed. When they stopped by the home to check on the pair, they noticed the son "laying on the floor" and the father "in the chair." At this point, the co-worker thought nothing of it and figured Dewayne and DJ to be OK. When Dewayne failed to show up to work on Friday morning, a neighbor went to the home and noticed the pair in the same position as described the evening before and knew something was wrong.

"So I opened the door, and that's when I saw them," the victim's friend said. "I'm still terrified. Still terrified. Because I have no idea who done it, why they done it. I mean I know them, they're nice people. I can't imagine anyone wanting to hurt them."

The Durham County Sheriff's Office is encouraging people to call Crimestoppers at (919) 683-1200 if they know anything regarding the case. There is also a cash reward involved if the information leads to an arrest.
