Fire destroys Clayton area home

CLAYTON (WTVD) -- Fire destroyed a Johnston County home Tuesday evening.

It happened on Cornwallis Road near Winston Road, just outside Clayton.

Everyone inside the house got out safely and no injuries have been reported.

An ABC11 crew on the scene said it wasn't safe for firefighters to enter the home so they fought th fire from the outside.

The fire marshal is investigating.

Crews from several nearby areas assisted the Clayton Fire Department.

Cornwallis Road was closed as firefighters dealt with the fire.
