Second shark bite this month reported at Atlantic Beach

ATLANTIC BEACH, N.C. (WTVD) -- An 11-year-old Carteret County boy was bitten by a shark Saturday afternoon.

Atlantic Beach Fire Chief said emergency crews responded to the call at the Fort Macon State Park around 3:30 p.m., WCTI reports.

Snyder said the boy was attacked while surfing and suffered "deep wounds" to his left foot. He was taken to the hospital.

The beach was not closed during the incident.

On June 11, an 18-year-old on vacation was bitten by a small shark on the hand.
