FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Fayetteville police say several cars were involved in a crash early Sunday morning that left one person dead and several injured.

It happened on Santa Fe Drive near Coalition Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. A car ran off the road, causing the crash, authorities said.

Authorities said several vehicles that were traveling on Santa Fe Drive towards Bragg Boulevard were involved, when a 2003 GMC SUV ran off the road and crashed.

One person inside the SUV, 17-year-old Rayshawn Patrick Daniels, died at the scene.

The other people inside the vehicle - 24-year-old Brent Henry, 21-year-old Orionte Bennett, 21-year-old John Brown, 16-year-old Dantovious Miles and a 15-year-old boy - were taken to the hosptial with non-life-threatening injuries.
