Ex-NCSU baseball star hopes new role leads to Majors

Former NC State star is back in Durham to face the Bulls, but he hopes to stick in the Majors soon.

Two years after leaving NC State, Trea Turner returned to the Triangle, at a ballpark seen from a new perspective.

For a guy who travels lightning quick around the bases, Turner's climb to the Majors feels glacial. Stymied by a power-hitting Washington Nationals shortstop, Turner is leaning to play center field, which would increase his chances of a call-up.

In June, Turner played one game with Washington, going 3-3 with a double and a walk. He was promptly sent back down.

Turner follows the Pack 9 closely and reached out to Coach Elliott Avent after he was bitten by a venomous snake.

Being back here is fun. But Turner hopes it's the last time. Watch the video for more.
