Durham teen charged with armed robbery

DURHAM (WTVD) -- A Durham teen was arrested after police said he robbed a woman at gunpoint outside an apartment complex. He is also accused of breaking and entering vehicles as well as possession of stolen property.

Police said Ledarius Rumsey Samuel, 18, went up to woman walking to her apartment complex on Chapel Hill Road on April 22 and demanded her purse at gunpoint.

Police said he also broke into several vehicles in the area of Bridgefield Place and Neal Road in June. He took keys, phones, and headphones and also stole packages off a porch, according to authorities.

Samuel was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault by pointing a gun, larceny of motor vehicle, breaking and entering to a motor vehicle and five counts of possession of stolen goods. He was taken to the Durham County Jail under a $300,000 bond.
