RAEFORD, NC (WTVD) -- The Hoke County Sheriff's Office says it is investigating explosives left in two mailboxes.

Deputies said they first got a report of mailbox damage in 2700 block of North Shannon Road in the Shannon area on Wednesday morning.

Investigators called it a chemical pressure bomb, where chemical are mixed in a bottle causing an explosion.

A second bomb was left in a mailbox in the 1500 Block of John Road, but the contents of the bottle leaked out without exploding.

Deputies said similar incidents occurred in next-door Robeson County.

Deputies are trying to identify suspects.
