Kyle David Scobie faces charges related to child pornography

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A Raleigh man who worked for Wake County Public Schools as a kindergarten teacher assistant and is listed as a Contemporary Worship Director at Forest Hills Baptist Church faces charges related to child pornography.

The Raleigh Police Department has charged 30-year-old Kyle David Scobie with second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to arrest warrants, Scobie was in possession of videos depicting children participating in sex acts.

Wake County Public Schools said Scobie resigned from his position at Wilburn Elementary School June 30.

At a court appearance for Scobie Friday, a prosecutor said investigators not only traced the child pornography downloads to his computer at home, but to a computer at the elementary school.

In a message to parents, the principal of Wilburn said "Based on the police report, we are not aware that his behavior involved any of our students at all, but we wanted you to be informed."

The Forest Hills Baptist Church website says Scobie moved to the Raleigh area in 2011 from Ohio. Worship directors typically arrange the music portions of church services.
