RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Harris Teeter announced Tuesday it will open a new grocery store in downtown Raleigh.

It will be located at the Shops at Seaboard Station off Peace Street near the Capital Boulevard.

The approximately 55,000 square foot store will include a pharmacy, fresh foods and prepared food centers.

"Harris Teeter is the premier grocer in our market and we are excited about bringing them to Seaboard. We intend to retain all of our current tenants at Seaboard Station and to expand with additional local boutiques, services and restaurants." said Billie Redmond of TradeMark Properties. "Seaboard Station is committed to our community and this exciting addition answers the need for a strong grocery location in the downtown area. And it allows Seaboard to create more opportunities for small business and independent retailers in our market."

Harris Teeter is owned by Cincinnati-based Kroger.
