Police ID man fatally shot in Fayetteville parking lot

Authorities in Fayetteville investigating a fatal shooting on S. Reilly Road (WTVD)

Authorities in Fayetteville are investigating a fatal shooting after a man was shot while sitting in a parked vehicle early Wednesday morning.

Around 4:20 a.m., officers were called to the area near 816 S. Reilly Road after receiving a call about shots being fired. When they arrived, they found a driver who had been shot inside a vehicle that was in the parking lot of Discount Tobacco.


Authorities said an unknown suspect walked up to the vehicle and shot the driver while he sat inside of the car. Two other people who were also inside the vehicle were not injured.

The victim was identified Wednesday afternoon as Diquane McLamb, 20, of the 6500 block of Jeffrey Drive. McLamb was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
