Durham man abducts 3 girls, police say
Juan Carlos Gutierrez

DURHAM (WTVD) -- A Durham man was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with abducting three girls ages 11, 13, and 15-years-old. All three were located and are unharmed, police said.

Investigators said they were told that Juan Carlos Gutierrez, 51, came to an apartment in Durham and left with the three girls on Monday. Police said the parents weren't able to contact the juveniles after they left.

The girls were found in Selma with help from local, state, and federal authorities. They were not physically harmed.

Officials said the girls are not related to Gutierrez and it is still unclear how they knew him.

Gutierrez was charged with three counts of abduction of children. He was also served with a warrant charging him with the abduction of a child last summer in Johnston County.

He was taken to the Johnston County jail.

Authorities are still investigating.
