FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office executed multiple search warrants on Wednesday that resulting in the closure of what it called a false business front.

The first search warrant was executed at The Oasis Spa, 3069 Cumberland Road in Fayetteville.

The sheriff's office said the spa and massage center served as a front for prostitution and sex trafficking involving young women of Chinese descent.

"I have to give great credit to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office's Anti-Human Trafficking Unit who have worked so diligently and tirelessly in these investigations which are often difficult because of the way these criminal enterprises intimidate and destroy the lives of their victims," said Cumberland County Sheriff Earl "Moose" Butler.

A second search warrant was served at the home of Huaan Xie, 41, of Briar Circle in Fayetteville. Xie is listed as the owner and operator of the Oasis Spa.

Xie was charged with operating a continuing criminal enterprise and three counts of promoting prostitution.

Xie was booked into the Cumberland County Detention Center and is being held on $400,000 secured bond.

"We are not going to tolerate this inhumane treatment and these organized crime rings to operate in Cumberland County," Sheriff Butler and Chief Deputy Ennis Wright said in a statement.
