DURHAM (WTVD) -- A crime alert has been issued on North Carolina Central University's campus after officials say armed robbers held up two people inside a dormitory just after midnight.

According to an alert sent out by the university, one of the victims reported that someone knocked on his dorm room door inside New Residence Hall 2, commonly called New Res 2, and when he opened the door, two suspects entered the room.

The victim said one of the suspects pointed a handgun at him and he was then restrained by the suspects. Police said another victim walked in the room during the robbery and was restrained as well.

The suspects searched the room taking various items before leaving. No injuries were reported.

The first suspect was described as an African American man with a dark complexion, standing between 5'11" to 6' tall and weighing about 220 pounds. He had a muscular build and was last seen wearing all black with a black scarf covering the lower part of his face.

The second suspect was described as an African American man with a medium complexion and a thin build, standing about 5'8" tall and weighing around 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing all black with a black scarf covering the lower part of his face.

"As far as the interaction, it's surprising," NCCU student Mercedes Booker said. "Usually, I would think that it would happen on the street because we are an open campus. But in the dorm? That's surprising."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the NCCU Police Department at (919) 530-6106.
