Grant Hill surprises Duke freshmen at Target

DURHAM (WTVD) -- It's nearly a tradition at Duke -- busloads of freshmen being shuttled over to the South Square Target after hours to load up on school supplies.

This year, they had a special host, Blue Devil basketball legend Grant Hill. He was on hand to welcome all the noobs to campus and wish them well as they begin college life.

A DJ and a dance floor were set up in the middle of the store and a special back-to-college section has been set up specifically for the students to shop.

Hill was there to surprise students at the door, hand out gift cards and share in their school-shopping experience.

An estimated 1,700 students participated.
