Woman finally gets new roof after help from ABC11 Troubleshooter

HENDERSON, N.C. (WTVD) -- Home Improvement projects typically come with some headaches. For the Gwendolyn Williams, it was waiting for her roofing job to get started.

In May, Gwendolyn Williams hired Junious Hawkins to put on a new metal roof on her home. She says the job was supposed to get started the beginning of June, but that didn't happen.

"I started calling him, and he said he had another job to finish," she added. "That was fine, but I wanted to know what he did with the money I had given him to get our material with."

She tried to be patient, but no work started weeks after hiring Hawkins.

Gwendolyn already paid Hawkins $2,000 for the roofing materials and she was worried the money was gone. So she got in touch with me and I talked to Hawkins.

Gwendolyn says she got some results, "He started making an effort to get it done. He finally did show up and I have a beautiful roof and I'm very proud and really happy with it."

Hawkins admitted to the delays, but said he had to get caught up on others jobs. He said he would make sure he made Gwendolyn happy, which he did.

"We like it. He did a really good job," she added.
