Investigation underway after Fort Bragg soldier's death

FORT BRAGG (WTVD) -- Authorities are investigating a Fort Bragg soldier's death after he was pronounced dead Sunday at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center from injuries sustained from an apparent gunshot wound.

Officials said Capt. Benjamin Blaylock, 39, of Spanish Fork, Utah, was injured at his home in Sanford.

Details surrounding the incident have not been released.

An investigation is being conducted to determine the cause, according to authorities.

Capt. Blaylock was a human resource officer with Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 3rd Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade. He joined the Army in 2010.

Blaylock is survived by his wife, two children, mother, and father.
