Driver flips car on Durham street

A woman was critically injured in a crash on Hardee Street in Durham (WTVD)

Emergency crews responded to the 500 block of Hardee Street Thursday afternoon after a driver flipped her car and knocked down power lines.

The crash was reported around 12:36 p.m. A woman was driving a 2000 BMW north on Hardee Street and lost control of her car. The BMW ran off the road, struck a power pole, and overturned.

The driver was rushed to the hospital for treatment of critical injuries, police said. Her name has not yet been released.

The power pole was damaged and lines were down on Hardee Street. Hardee Street was closed between Landon Street and Fiske Street while the power pole was being repaired.
